Ruth Hamm

Ruth Hamm, age 93, of Little Falls, MN, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at the Country Manor Healthcare Center in Sartell, MN. A Memorial Mass for Ruth Hamm will be at 11 AM, Saturday, May 31, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN, with Father Nick Landsberger and Father Jim Lies con-celebrating. Burial will be at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Friends may call from 6 to 8 PM Friday, May 30 at Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN, and from 10 to 11 AM Saturday at the church. Christian Mothers and Daughters of Isabella will pray the rosary at 6 PM and Parish Prayers will be at 7 PM Friday. Ruth Hamm was born on November 5, 1914 in Gheen, MN to John and Mary (Tomberlin) Ward. Ruth was united in marriage to Robert K. Hamm on August 24, 1940 in Duluth, MN. They lived in Duluth until 1946, when they moved to Little Falls, MN where she remained for the rest of her life. Ruth worked at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls for 16 years and was a “Pink Lady” volunteer there after her retirement in 1977 until age 84. She cherished all the friendships she made during her working years. Ruth and Bob enjoyed traveling throughout the US after their retirement. She loved to read. She rarely missed reading her favorite comic strip Dennis the Menace and she worked the word jumble in the newspaper until just months prior to her death. Ruth was an avid bridge player and belonged to several bridge clubs. She was a cub scout den mother and active participant in the camp fire girls club of Little Falls. Ruth was also a member of Little Falls American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #46, Christian Mothers, and was past regent of The Daughters of Isabella, and was active with Teachers wives of Little Falls, MN. Ruth lived with her daughter Becky for 1 year prior to moving into Harmony House in 2007. In 2008 she moved into the Country Manor in Sartell, MN where she remained until her death. Ruth will be greatly missed by all. She was so grateful for any deed done for her. The family wishes to thank Harmony House of Little Falls for the care and love they provided, Country Manor in Sartell for the kindness and care of Ruth and her family in her final 2 weeks, and Home Instead Senior Care for their help while Ruth lived in St. Cloud. Ruth is survived by her sons, Robert W. (Barb) Hamm of Phoenix, AZ, and Lawrence E. Hamm of Moorhead, MN; daughter Rebecca M. (Tom) Lies of St. Cloud, MN. 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert K. in 2001; daughter-in-law Corrine Hamm; sister Margaret; brothers Lawrence, Frank, and John Ward.
