Xavier G. Hortsch, 91 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Saturday, November 17 at St. Gabriel's Hospital in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:30 A.M on Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Parish Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Friends of Xavier may call from 5 to 8 P.M. on Monday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and also from 10 to 11 A.M. on Tuesday at the Funeral Chapel. Parish Prayers will be prayed on Monday at 5:30 P.M and the Knights of Columbus will conduct The Office of the Dead at 7 P.M. Arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Xavier G. Hortsch was born January 8, 1916 to the late Frank and Margret (Terhaar) Hortsch in Morrill Township, Morrison County, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm in the Morrill Township area. Xavier was united in marriage to Evelyn Britz on July 17, 1944 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Morrill Township. The couple farmed on the family farm for about seven years until Xavier was offered a job at Larson Boat Co. in Little Falls, MN. Upon getting hired at Larson Boats the couple moved off the farm to Little Falls in 1950. In 1980 Xavier retired from the boat company after 31 years of service. Xavier was a member of the Little Falls Knights of Columbus Council # 1804 and St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He will be remembered for his strong love for his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Xavier is survived by, wife Evelyn (Britz) Hortsch of Little Falls, MN; son, Jerome Hortsch of Sauk Rapids, MN; daughters, Debby (Robert) Stehlin of Hibbing, MN, and Doreen (Scott) Gardeen of Bloomington, MN; sister, Philimine Tueber of St. Cloud, MN; grandchildren, Amy (Todd) Stehlin-Orth, Adam (Jamie) Hortsch, Paul (Caitlyn) Stehlin, Joe (Mindy) Hortsch, Dan Gardeen, and Spencer Gardeen; great grandchildren, Isabella Stehlin, Nilah Hortsch, and Maxwell Stehlin-Orth. Xavier is preceded in death by parents, Frank and Margret (Terhaar) Hortsch; brothers, John and Larry Hortsch; sisters, Adeline Hortsch, Ciel Emmel, Olivia Bentfield, Helen Kappes; great grandchildren, Julian Orth and Noah Hortsch.
