Alta V. Jelinski

Alta Jelinski, a 99-year-old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016, at the Central Minnesota Senior Care in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie, MN with Father Joseph Herzing officiating. Burial will take place at the Holy Family Parish Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00-11:30 A.M. on Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Alta Fehrer was born on December 3, 1916, in Wisner, NE to the late Leo and Meta (Bladorn) Fehrer. She grew up in Wisner, NE where she attended Country School. Alta was united in marriage to Richard Jelinski on December 28, 1940, in Truman, MN. In 1941, the couple moved to Little Falls, MN where they rented a farm and began their farming career. Alta and Richard then relocated to the Swanville area in 1942 when they purchased their first farm which they later sold in 1949 to purchase another farm in Freedhem, MN. Alta was a very hard working women that worked alongside her husband on the farm for many years. She was a great cook, that could create something wonderful out of virtually nothing. Another great talent of Alta’s was her seamstress work, vegetable and fruit gardens, and her ability to can many different fruits and vegetables. Alta will forever be remembered for many things, but one thing the family will always remember are Alta’s incredible strawberry and apple pies. She was a lifelong member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Belle Prairie. Blessed be her memory and may she rest in peace. Alta is survived by son, Gerald (Charlene) Jelinski of Little Falls, MN; brother, Melvin (Judy) Fehrer of West Point NE; grandchildren, Todd (Laura) Jelinski of Moorhead, MN, Scott (Becky) Jelinski of Little Falls, MN and Lisa (Kelly) Carr of Lake Benton, MN; brothers-in-law, Bernard Stumpe and Aaron Peters; sister-in-law, Doris Fehrer; and 8 great-grandchildren. Alta was preceded in death by parents, Leo and Meta Fehrer; husband, Richard Jelinski; sisters, Thelma Anderson, Loretta Goodwin, Bernice Stumpe and Darlene Peters; and brother, Orville Fehrer. Casketbearers will be Spencer Carr, Tyler Gadacz, Joshua Jelinski, Jonah Jelinski, Kelly Carr and Jacob Jelinski.
