Colette G. Braun, 93 year old resident of Pierz, MN passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the Pierz Villa in Pierz, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, MN with Father Kenneth Popp officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery in Pierz. Friends may call from 4-8 PM on Wednesday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. A Christian Mother’s rosary will be at 4:30 PM followed by Parish Prayers at 7 PM on Wednesday at the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Colette Braun was born on May 19, 1920 in Little Falls, MN to the late Herman and Mary (Happke) Poepping. She was united in marriage to John Braun on January 17, 1944 in Pierz, MN. They lived in Pierz all their lives, where they raised six children. She was a hard worker, loved singing, gardening, quilting, traveling, and always ready to sit down and visit awhile. She loved life and lived it to the fullest, doing what she enjoyed. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to her and they will cherish many memories of the time they spent with her. Also her neighbors and friends enjoyed good times with her. She endured many hardships, but the hardest were the last years with the loss of her son, Don, and having to live with Alzheimer’s Disease. We are thankful she is now resting with Our Lord, and will now be at peace. Colette is survived by her children, Bob (Lee) Braun of Sauk Rapids, MN; Joan (Jim) Kapsner of Pierz, MN; Cathy (Ken) Britz of St. Peter, MN; Howard (Jackie) Braun of Cold Spring, MN; and Jane (Doug) Binnie of Dell Rapids, SD; 19 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; siblings, Min Meyer of Pierz, MN; and Adlore Poepping of Irwindale, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband John in October 1979; son, Don, in March 2003; parents, Herman and Mary Peopping; and siblings, Rod Poepping and Audrey Millner. Pallbearers will be Colin Binnie, Chris Braun, Eric Braun, Aaron Britz, Adam Britz, Ryan Britz, Andy Kapsner and Jason Kapsner.
