Daniel 'Danny' Piekarski Sr.

Daniel ‘Danny’ Piekarski Sr., 74 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Saturday, Aug. 29, at his home in Little Falls, MN after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday (Sept. 4) at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN. Burial will take place at the Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery north of Little Falls, MN. Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. on Thursday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. on Friday at the Funeral Home. Military honors will be provided by the Little Falls American Legion Post # 46, Little Falls VFW Post #1112 and the D.A.V. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Daniel was born on October 17, 1934 in Little Falls, MN to the late Frank and Susan (Fietek) Piekarski. Daniel entered the Armed Forces at the age of 17 and was proud to be a Paratrooper in the U.S. Army in which he served in the Korean War. He was very proud and honored to serve his country for four years when he was honorably discharged in 1957. Danny volunteered with the D.A.V (Disabled American Veterans) after his retirement and was a lifetime member of the Little Falls VFW Post #1112, American Legion Post #46 and the D.A.V. Dan moved to the Twin Cities area and became employed in the construction field, which he retired in 1992 as a foreman. In iron working, he built many buildings throughout Minnesota. Dan was united in marriage to Florence Heurung on February 15, 1958 and the couple made their home and raised their family in Little Falls, MN. Daniel is survived by his wife of 51 years, Florence (Heurung) Piekarski of Little Falls, MN; children, Greg (Mary) Piekarski of Buffalo, MN, Connie Boody of Little Falls, MN, Brian (Karen) Piekarski of Montrose, MN, Danny Jr. (Jolene) Piekarski of Little Falls, MN; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; siblings, Fred Piekarski and Patsy Rech; and many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends that will remember Dan for his great jokes and good sense of humor. Daniel is preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Susan (Fietek) Piekarski; brothers, Alois and David Piekarski; sisters, Eleanor Cole and Adeline Farrier; and beloved son, Kevin Piekarski.
