Dorothy A. Sanders

Dorothy A. Sanders, 89 year old resident of Little Falls, MN, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2015 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Little Falls. A Funeral Service will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at First United Church in Little Falls, MN with Pastor Eric Shin officiating. Burial will take place in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls, MN. A visitation will be held from 11 AM until 1 PM Thursday at First United Church in Little Falls, MN. Arrangements are with Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls. Dorothy was born on August 17, 1926, in Verndale, MN, to the late Dewey and Lauretta (Walkup) Edin. She grew up in Verndale, MN where she attended and graduated from Verndale High School. Dorothy earned her teaching degree at St. Cloud State Teachers College. She was united in marriage to Ivan Sanders on March 26, 1949, at her parents home in Verndale, MN. Dorothy taught Country School at several area schools throughout her teaching career, retiring in 1971 from Holy Trinity Catholic School in Pierz, MN. Dorothy loved to square dance, play cards and travel the world with Ivan. She was very active with the Randall VFW where she served a the VFW Ladies Auxiliary President for several years. Dorothy was also a life long member of First United Church in Little Falls, MN. Dorothy was greatly loved and will be dearly missed. Dorothy is survived by daughter, Maureen (Joe) Okroi of Little Falls, MN; sons, Dr. Adrian (Karen) Sanders of Wilmington, NC, Kent (Sandy) Sanders of Shakopee, MN; grandchildren, Keith (Ronda) Blomberg, Klaudia (Brent Karpinske) Sanders, Amanda (Matt) Anderson, Allie Sanders, Jordan (Ryan) Griffith, Ivan (Schylene) Sanders and Henry Sanders; sister-in-law, Phyllis Edin; and brother-in-law Arlen Bartel; great-grandchildren, Heather Falgout, Stephanie Blomberg, Ashley (Thomas) Hughes, Amelia Blomberg, Bruno Simic, Maddie Anderson, M. J. Anderson, Edin Sanders, Nikolai Sanders, Emily Gaffke, and Kayla Gaffke; and great-great-grandchildren, Gavin Falgout, Abby Hughes, Jennifer Ferrian, Jessica Ferrian, and Paisley Simic Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Lauretta Edin; husband, Ivan (1999);brother, Glenn Edin; and sister, Ione Bartel.
