Edward "Jim" Rekowski

Edward “Jim” Rekowski, 59 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the Frazee Care Center in Frazee, MN. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls with Deacon Craig Korver officiating. Burial will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Cemetery in Little Falls. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls. Edward James Rekowski (Jimmy), was born on January 31, 1959 to Edward and Geraldine Rekowski. Jim was born and raised in Little Falls where he attended school. He met Barbara Jean Hoheisel and they married on Aug 10, 1991. Together, they owned and operated Rekowski’s Towne Deli in Little Falls. Jim became an awesome bread maker, doing 18 loaves a day. Later, Jim and Barbara Jean divorced, but remained best of friends. Jim had a great smile, always a wise-crack, you could not always get his jokes. He had a great love for fishing and hunting. He was great about cooking or frying up his catch and sharing with you. Jim took excellent care of his dad “Ed” which included, cooking, cleaning, dressing him and washing him up to get ready for the day. They loved time down in garage sipping on “Old Mill”, waiting for friends or family to stop down, maybe with a 12 pack, they could solve the world's problems. Jim loved that garage, many cars and trucks being fixed as his dad supervised the mechanics. Jim could be himself there. Jimmy was lost without his dad. Jim is survived by his ex-wife and best friend, Barbara Jean Rekowski of 32 years; stepdaughter, Jolaineah Waltman; grandchildren, Sadie Waltman and Carter Waltman; brothers, David Rekowski (Cindy), Danny Rekowski (Lisa), Darryl Rekowski (Vicki), Dale Rekowski (Nita Tautges); sisters, Cheri (Al) Valerius, Cindy (Don) Reznechek, Connie (Mike) Skeie, Carol (Kevin) Snow and Carla (Rick) Dickhausen; uncles, Bernard Rekowski, Otto Johannes, Don Hanson; aunt, Martha Becker, 6 nephews, 5 nieces, 3 great-nephews and 2 great nieces, Godchild, Megan (Rekowski) Hilmerson and many cousins and good friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Geraldine (Hanson) Rekowski; grandparents, Frank and Agnes Rekowski and Walter and Erma Hanson; Godparents, Les and Jeanette LeMieur.
