Eva A. Janson

Eva A. Janson, 91 year old resident of Pierz, MN passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010 at the Pierz Villa in Pierz. A Mass of Christian Burial for Eva Janson will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz, MN, with Father Gerald Dalseth officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Monday and 9 to 10 AM Tuesday at Shelley-Virnig Funeral Chapel in Pierz. Christian Mothers will pray the rosary at 4:30 PM and Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 PM Monday. Eva Agatha Meyer was born on February 12, 1919 in Agram Township, Minnesota to the late Mathias and Katherine (Brausen) Meyer. She was united in marriage to Alfred Janson on June 5, 1945 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Pierz. Together they farmed in Agram Township until moving to Pierz in 1979. Eva worked at Fingerhut in St. Cloud, MN, and at Munsingwear in Little Falls, MN until it closed. She sold Avon products and Playhouse toys from home. Eva also cleaned for various people in Pierz until she was 84, and helped with cooking on funerals for many years. Eva was known around town for her caramel rolls and coffee cakes. She was also known as the quillow lady, making hundreds of them for friends and relatives. Eva loved to play solitaire and smear with the neighbors and taught her grandkids many card games. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grand and great grandkids. Eva was a longtime member of St. Joseph’s church and the Christian Mothers. Eva is survived by her sons, Jerry (Laurie), Dave (Dawn), and Danny (Dona) Janson, all of Pierz; daughters, Betty (Bill) Stave of Brainerd, MN, and Debby (Pete) Hoheisel of Pierz; 12 grandkids and 6 great grandkids with 2 more expected; and special friend, Renee Trepanier. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred; 12 brothers and sisters. Honorary Casketbearers will be Carrie Portlance, Chasiddy Thompson, Nathan Janson, Scott Janson, Melinda Janson, and Nick Hoheisel. Casketbearers will be Mike Stave, Shawn Janson, Eric Janson, Andrew Janson, Jake Hoheisel, and Matt Hoheisel.
