Gilbert Gustafson

Gilbert Royce Gustafson, 74 year old resident of Little Falls, MN died Saturday, January 6, 2007 at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls with Rev. Rachel Flogstad-Heise officiating. Burial will be at Darling Cemetery northwest of Little Falls. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM on Monday, January 8th at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls and from 1 to 2 PM Tuesday at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday evening at Bethel Lutheran Church. Gilbert Royce Gustafson was born on May 9, 1932 in Little Falls, Minnesota to the late Carl & Helen (Fredrickson) Gustafson. He was united in marriage to Alice Lorraine Thelander on October 27, 1951 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Little Falls. Gil’s life included working with his dad at Block Manufacturing Plant in Darling Township. He later worked in a residential construction business with his father-in-law, Hugo Thelander, along with being a dealer for Dynamic Homes, continuing in that field until his death. Later in his life he was noted for his cedar lawn swings. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday school for 40 years. He had a great love for his Ford tractors, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his dog “Shep”. Gilbert is survived by his wife, Alice Gustafson of Little Falls, MN; sons, Thomas (Mary) Gustafson of St. Cloud, MN, John (Renee) Gustafson of Little Falls, MN; daughters, Ann (Keith) Silbernick of Little Falls, MN, Jane (Pete) Pepin of Winterset, IA, Peggy (Terry Collins) Gustafson of Holland, MI; brother, Lee Gustafson of Kerrville, TX; sister, Myrna Lintner of Grand Junction, CO 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Gil is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Helen Gustafson, brother, Johnny, infant brother and sister, Mildred Stromback. Active Pallbearers will be Thomas Gustafson, John Gustafson, Paul Gustafson, Adam Gustafson, Kyle LeDoux and Wayne Heath.
