Jeanette Z. Eckman 83 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Highland Senior Living in Little Falls, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Burial will take place at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call from 10-11 A.M. on Saturday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Jeanette (Zimmerman) Eckman was born May 22, 1930 in Albany, MN to Ferdinand and Zita (Klein) Zimmerman. She attended catholic grade school and graduated from Albany HS in 1948. Upon graduation she moved to Minneapolis where she worked as a telephone operator for, as she liked to call it, "Ma Bell". She then moved to Little Falls, MN and continued working for the phone company and where she met her husband Raphael (Ray) Eckman. They were married August 20, 1951 in Camp Rucker AL where he was stationed during the Korean War. Jeanette loved to read and passed that passion on to her children by reading thousand of hours to them when they were little. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and completed them daily as long as anyone can remember. She was an avid bird watcher and was always excited to record a "new" sighting. She also loved flowers and the big spring event was picking out the annuals for the flower beds, barrels, and hanging baskets. She also loved to cook and was adventurous. Making egg rolls and won tons after sampling take out Chinese was one example. Family holiday dinners were events that were talked about frequently. Jeanette was preceded in death by her first born, Patrick (Renee Boicourt), in 2003 and a step-grandson, Jesse (Lisa) Rund in 2007. She is survived by her husband Ray Eckman; children, Beverly (Stan) Rund of Elbow Lake MN, James Eckman of Little Falls, and Aimee (Joanna Stevens) Eckman of Eastham MA; grandchildren, Lucas, Katrina, and Anna Eckman; Johanna Vosen; Alehna (Zach) Albachten, Jordan and Collin Eckman; and Emma Eckman Stevens. She also has one step-granddaughter Allison (Chad) Bagby of Des Moines and two step-great-grandchildren Nicole Bagby and Alayna Rund.
