Jeannette J. Thorp

Jeannette J. Thorp, a 53-year-old resident of Willmar, MN formerly of Little Falls, MN passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at 7:15 AM, at her home in Willmar, after a 9 year battle with a brain tumor. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, March 14, 2016, at Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN with Rev. David Sperstad officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel. Jeannette Jessie White was born on April 4th,1962 in Little Falls, MN and was the youngest of 7 children born to Eugene and Jeannette (Post) White. She grew up in Little Falls, graduated from Little Falls High School in 1980, and began attending landscape technology classes at Brainerd Area Vocational Technical Institute in the fall of the year. Jeannette was married to Stephen “Steve” Thorp of Fergus Falls, MN on September 19th, 1981 in Little Falls, MN and 1 month later the couple moved to Duluth, MN where they lived for 16 years. Their 2 children, Shane and Lacey were both born in Duluth, MN. In January 1998, they moved to Willmar, MN. As a youth, Jeannette enjoyed spending time at the family cabin on Lake Alexander, as well as camping and snowmobile trips in the family Winnebago motor home. She was very creative in crafts and was an experienced seamstress, Jeannette enjoyed spending time in the yard and flower beds, and with her family. She was a devoted housewife and mother, but also worked in the businesses Steve operated as the 2 children got older. Jeannette was diagnosed with a brain tumor in January of 2007 and subsequently underwent surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible in 2007, 2012, and 2014. Surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments could only slow the progression of the tumor. Jeannette is survived by her husband, Steve Thorp of Willmar, MN; son, Shane Thorp of Inver Grove Heights, MN; daughter, Lacey (Justin) Sietsema of Willmar, MN; mother, Jeannette White of Little Falls, MN; brothers, Steve (Mary Ann) White of Little Falls, and George (Debra) White of Little Falls, MN; sisters, Sue (Dave) Lubbers of Texas, Kathy Monson of Lake Lillian, MN, and Cindy (Don) Thoennes of Alexandria, MN; grandchildren, Ruby, Audrey, Jacob, and Carter. She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene; brother, Sloan; grandparents, uncles, and aunts.
