Kati (Zyvoloski) John

Catherine M. “Kati” (Zyvoloski) John , 65 years old resident of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, formerly of Tucson, Arizona, passed away December 20, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Community. Funeral services will be held at Shelley Funeral Chapel, Little Falls, Minnesota Tuesday December 30, 2014. A private Mass for family and friends will take place at 3pm at the Shelley Funeral Chapel with Fr Joe Herzing from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Little Falls, Minnesota presiding. Friends may call Tuesday, December 30, 2014 from 4 to 8pm at Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls. Burial will be at Our Lady of Lourdes cemetery in the spring of 2015. Kati was born on October 24, 1949 to Delores and the late Michael (Bud) Zyvoloski in Little Falls Minnesota. Kati was Baptized and received First Communion at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Little Falls. After her family moved to Long Prairie she attended grade school and was Confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Long Prairie. Kati graduated from Long Prairie High School in 1967. She wanted to become a registered nurse and attended St Gabriel’s School of Nursing, graduating in 1970. Most notably a member of the last class to graduate prior to the school’s closing. Kati’s nursing background took her many places. From her home town hospital in Long Prairie to Alaska, to the deserts of Arizona working as a nurse with the Vision Quest Youth Rehabilitation Program. Kati finally settled in Tucson, Arizona where she worked in long term care facilities. After many years it was here she ended her nursing career. Running a close second to nursing was Kati’s love for animals. Horses were her first love. Raising, training and showing horses was her passion. She also rescued many animals, from dogs to pot bellied pigs. All were cared for with love and compassion. Due to failing health Kati moved back to Minnesota in 2011 to be closer to her family. She is survived by her mother, Delores Zyvoloski of St. Cloud. Sister, Cindy Sellin of St. Cloud and brother Mike (Mary) Zyvoloski of Sauk Rapids. Nephew, Michael Zyvoloski of St. Cloud, niece Sarah Zyvoloski of Sauk Rapids and niece Anna Zyvoloski of Duluth. And finally, her last rescue dog Jackson. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael (Bud) Zyvoloski and brother-in-law Mike Sellin. Family requests memorials in lieu of flowers. A special thank you goes to Dr. Mueller and staff from the Centra Care Clinic, Becker. Care staff at Shepherd of Grace Cottages, Becker and the Good Shepherd Community, Sauk Rapids. The departments and units of the St. Cloud Hospital and Centra Care Clinics who cared for Kati during her time in Minnesota. Your kind and compassionate care in recent days and over the years gave us much more quality time with her.
