Leora M. Poster

Leora Poster, 93 year old resident of Pierz, MN passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024 at the Pierz Villa in Pierz, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:30 A.M. on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz, MN with Father Aaron Nett officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Joseph's Parish Cemetery in Pierz, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 and from 9-11 A.M. on Thursday all at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. A Christian Mother's Rosary will be prayed on Wednesday at 3:30 P.M. at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Caring for Leora and her family is the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Pierz, MN. Leora Margaret was born to the late Otto and Margaret (Hoheisel) Wuellner on November 14, 1930 in Agram Township. She attended grade school at the old Agram country schoolhouse and graduated from St. Francis High School in Little Falls in 1949. She worked a short time in Rochester as a nurse's aide and then at the old Ben Franklin Store in Little Falls. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Poster, in June of 1950, and they farmed and raised a family north and east of Buckman. In 1986, they retired off the farm to Pierz. After her family was raised, she worked at Flickers Bar and the Old Bank Restaurant in Pierz and volunteered many hours at the Villa and Holy Trinity School lunchroom. She moved to Country Place, Rose Court and then the Pierz Villa in 2020. She had a deep faith and was a member of the Christian Mothers and St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz. She had a special fondness for babies and children, collected a century's worth of funeral cards and kept a daily diary nearly all of her life. Leora loved to play cards (was in various card groups), gardening, enjoyed traveling, visits to the Casino, embroidered lots of dish towels and baby quilts, being a fan in the stands, and most of all loved her family. She and Lawrence provided a loving home to grow up in and she always had food ready to serve whoever dropped in to visit. All of Leora's grandchildren called her "The Candy Grandma". Left to cherish her memory are her 8 children, Pat (Jim) Zimmermann, Karen (Chuck) Gruber, Jerry (Pat) Poster, Janel (Loren) Meyer, Marilyn (Bob) Virnig, LuAnn (Dave) Kasper, Kevin (Karen) Poster, John (Mari Jo) Poster; 38 grandchildren, 121 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Jeanette Wuellner, Phyllis Poster and Sandy Poster. Leora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence in 2004; grandson, James Winscher; great-grandson, Nathan Winscher, and all of her siblings, Donald (Doloria) Wuellner, Norman (Mary) Wuellner, Elaine (Elroy) Meyer, Otto Jr (Catherine then Arlyn) Wuellner, Betty (Leon) Flicker, Doris (Frank) Hurrle, Ronald (Donna Stellmach) Wuellner and Harold "Johnnie" Wuellner and brothers-in-law, James Poster, Dave (Maxine) Poster and Daniel Poster.
