Linda M. Smith

Linda M. Smith, 59 year old resident of Golden Valley, MN passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, MN. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, June 20, 2014 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel. Linda was born on July 17, 1954 in Little Falls to Marcella and Clifford Heinz. Linda spent most of her childhood years in Little Falls. She lived in a packed home with six siblings. She later moved to Minneapolis, MN to pursue various job opportunities. Always the hard worker, Linda found a job at the IDS tower in Minneapolis for custodial work. She later would have a few different work changes but ultimately lead to her final job at North Junior High School in Hopkins, MN. Linda enjoyed working at the schools and everyone enjoyed her being there just as much. Linda greatly appreciated her family time and loved being around all of her family members. It was close to impossible to stop Linda from being active. She enjoyed going to garage sales, flea markets, thrifting, or anywhere where she could find a new antique to put in the house. Linda was a very creative mind and would enjoy doing arts and crafts work and sewing. When she wasn’t doing that, she would be outdoors working on her home. Whether it is gardening, yard work, house work, she always had a new project. She never felt more proud when she would include something she grew in her garden, at the dinner table. Linda was the opposite of lazy. If she wasn’t doing something, she wouldn’t be happy. She found joy in staying busy. Linda was planning to retire soon and get out of the cold in Minnesota and enjoy the sun in Florida. However, retirement wouldn’t have slowed her down one bit. Linda was a very caring soul and would bring joy to whomever she was around. She was loved and cared for by many and will be greatly missed. Linda will be missed by her two children, Phillip (Kelsey) Smith of Fargo and Zachary Smith of Minneapolis, her mother Marcella Heinz of Little Falls, her siblings Betty Heinz of Little Falls, Dennis Heinz of Jacksonville by way of Little Falls, Jeanette Rahn (Heinz) of Cushing, Jerome Heinz of Little Falls, Kathy Driscoll (Heinz) of Mounds View and her granddaughter, Abby Smith of Fargo. Linda was preceded in death by her father Clifford Heinz, and brother Augustus (Gust) Heinz.
