Lucille M. Tschida

Lucille M. Tschida, 94 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at the Harmony House in Little Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 AM on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN with Father Joe Herzing officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s parish cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 AM Wednesday at the church. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Lucille Mae Anderson was born on June 28, 1923 at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls, MN. She was the second of 3 girls born to Lloyd and Mae (Green) Anderson. Lucille attended Hawthorne Elementary School and graduated from Little Falls High School in 1941. Following graduation, she earned her teaching certificate and began a long and meaningful career in education that lasted a total of 37 years. Lucille touched the lives of many children, and they, in turn, touched hers, as she always beamed with joy when in their presence. Another spark in her life was sweets. There wasn’t a dessert ever made that Lucille didn’t enjoy. In particular, she was most fond of the hot fudge sundae. Another classic lunch special she was famous for was the grilled cheese sandwich with grape jelly. Retirement for Lucille consisted of doing much substitute teaching at St. Mary’s and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Schools. Her hobbies included needlepoint and embroidery, which left behind a legacy of quilts and blankets that get great use by family members every day. She also did volunteer work at the VA Hospital in St. Cloud and the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries. She was a member of the Christian Mothers, Hospital Auxiliary, Little Falls VFW Post 1112 Auxiliary, Little Falls American Legion #46 Auxiliary and the Retired Teachers. Lucille is survived by her sons, Leon (Kathy) Tschida of Sun Prairie, WI, and Brian (Becky) Tschida of Mendota Heights, MN; grandchildren, Eric, Kathryn, Michael, and Jacob Tschida; sisters, Muriel Kliber of Pierz, MN, and Lorraine Gatchell of St. Peter, MN. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Conrad M. Tschida.
