Paulette A. Pappenfus

Paulette “Pinks” Pappenfus, 68, passed away on Thursday, April 19th, 2018 in her home unexpectedly as the result of an accident. On June 2nd, 2018 a visitation will be held from 10-12pm with a memorial service to follow at 12pm. All services will be held at Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls. Paulette compressed a lot of experiences and memories into her 68 years. She was born February 27, 1950 in Little Falls, MN to the late Eugene and Margaret (LaFond) Pappenfus. Paulette attended St. Francis Catholic school before graduating and continuing her education at St. Mary’s College in Minneapolis, where she received a degree in Child Development, specializing in developmental disabilities. Paulette had many passions in life. She loved the outdoors, teaching children, community involvement and wildlife conservation. After pursuing a variety of careers, she was drawn back to Little Falls to help with the family business. Paulette purchased the family business from her mother and father and became the third generation to own Pap’s Sport Shop in Little Falls, MN. It was here that Paulette's interests converged and through her business, she conquered many challenges and bettered the lives of countless in the community. After working in the store for 43 years, she decided to close the doors and retire in 2016. Paulette was so proud of the store and its recognition as one of the oldest, family owned, sporting goods stores in the county. Paulette’s commitment to community involvement allowed her to participate in many organizations including: Ducks Unlimited, Firearms Safety, MN Waterfowl Association, MN Deer Hunters Association, Morrison County Wild Turkey Federation, Pinnacle Hunting Club, Little Falls Sportsman’s Club, Eastern Morrison County Sportsman’s Club, Pheasants Forever, Pine Grove Zoo, Chamber of Commerce, Community Services, Big Brother - Big Sister, Morrison County Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, Little Falls Festivals & Craft Fair, Patriot Guard, Little Elk Heritage Preserve and Crane Meadows. In recognition for her contribution to the community, Paulette received numerous awards including: “Distinguished Service award (1986)”, “Outstanding Contribution award (1991)” from the Ducks Unlimited Foundation, “Outstanding Young Citizen award (1987)” Minnesota Jaycees, “Outstanding Service as a member of the Board of Directors (1999 & 2000)” Little Falls Chamber of Commerce, “Volunteer and Service Award” Crane Meadows. In 2014, she was honored to receive the State of Minnesota Firearm Safety instructor of the year. Paulette loved spending time with family and friends. She is survived by her brother, Thomas (Ruth), sister, Mary; nieces and nephews, Christopher (Allison), Merilea (Joel), Jeremy (Jessie), Tasa (Ryan) and great nieces/nephews, Jeremiah, Anna, Ryan, Brendan, Micah, Laelia, Roan, Harper Gene and Arlo. Paulette recognized and appreciated the amazing friendships she formed, especially the friendships with Bert Lapos, Stan Christensen & Margurite Cofell. Paulette will be missed terribly by her family, friends and community. Paulette was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Margaret Pappenfus; and brother-in-law's, John Hewitt, Myron "Duff" Leikvoll & Will Kistler.
