Rita T. Flahave

Rita T. Flahave 89 year old resident of Little Falls, MN passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015 at St. Otto’s Care Center in Little Falls, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 9, 2015 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN with Father Jeremy Ploof officiating. Burial will take place in St. Adelbert’s Catholic Cemetery in Little Falls, MN. A visitation will be held from 4-8 P.M. on Sunday and from 9-10:30 A.M. on Monday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Rita was born on September 21, 1925 in Little Falls, MN to the late Frank and Bridget (Kupka) Welinski. She grew up in Little Falls, MN where she attended school and graduated from Little Falls High School with the Class of 1943. Rita was united in marriage to John R. Flahave on January 18, 1947 at St. Adelbert’s Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN. She was a life long resident of Little Falls, MN where she was a member of St. Adelbert’s Catholic Church, St. James Catholic Church in Randall and most recently a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Little Falls, MN. Rita was a devoted wife, loving mother to 13 children, and a grandmother to many grandchildren. She enjoyed cross-stitch, embroidery, reading, and putting together jig-saw puzzles. She also loved tending to her african violets, baking, and watching the birds. Rita was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by many. Rita is survived by sons, Robert (Edie) Flahave of Royalton, MN, Thomas (Lori) Flahave of Little Falls, MN, Patrick (Patty) Flahave of Elk River, MN, Mike (Kathy) Flahave of Little Falls, MN and Tim (Patty) Flahave of Royalton, MN; daughters, Patricia (Denny) Hamilton of St. Cloud, MN, Mary Flahave of Little Falls, MN, Kathy (Roger) Ackerman of Little Falls, MN, Colleen (Gerald) Pasch of Bowlus, MN, Nancy (Mark) Sibenaller of Lonsdale, MN, Tracy (Noah) Smith of Hillsboro, OR, Jeanne (Ron) Beam of Little Falls, MN and Ann Marie Flahave of Portland, OR; brothers, Leonard (Marre) Welinski of Brooklyn Park, MN and Bernard Welinski of Northfield, MN; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Welinski of Swanville, MN and Mariann Johnson of Delano, MN; 34 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren. Rita was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Bridget Welinski; husband, John Flahave (1988); sisters, Ann Anderson and Bernice Pokladnik; and brothers, Alphonse Welinski and Harry Welinski. Casketbearers will be: Matthew Flahave, Ryan Flahave, Bryan Flahave, Eric Flahave, Sean Flahave, and Joel Ginter.
