Vivian Kieley

Vivian I. Kieley, 92 year-old resident of Big Lake, MN formerly of Little Falls, MN passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Cherrywood Advanced Living in Big Lake, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN with Father Nicholas Landsberger officiating. Burial will take place in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls, MN. Friends may call from 10-11 A.M. on Friday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Funeral arrangements are with the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN. Vivian was born August 14, 1920 in Green Prairie Township, Morrison County to the late Frank and Regina (Eckerson) Edden. She and her sister, Arlene were raised in the Little Falls area, where she met and married Gerald Kieley on July 8, 1939. They were married 66 years when Gerald passed away. Through their union, they were blessed with three children; Nancy, Roger and Doug. During their marriage, they lived in Minneapolis and Brooklyn Center. They owned a cabin at Fish Trap Lake for 25 years; which they shared with family and friends. When it was time to sell the cabin and also the Brooklyn Center home, they moved back to Little Falls and had many good years together visiting with old friends and going to the casino. We are so grateful for the care she received at St. Ben’s in Monticello and Cherrywood Alternative Living in Big Lake. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church, the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion in Little Falls. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, history, reading, bird watching, crossword puzzles and gardening. She wrote nice letters, kept photo albums and calendar diaries of the family and their lives. However, her biggest enjoyment came from spending time with her family and friends. Vivian is survived by her children, Roger (Betty) Kieley, Doug (Genny) Kieley, and Bob O’Dette of the Minneapolis suburbs; six grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents; husband, Gerald; daughter, Nancy O’Dette; grandson, Andy Kieley; and sister, Arlene Hanig. Rest in Peace, mother, grandmother, friend, and child of God.
